MISSIONARY NEWS – August 2011 Military
Evangelism – Walt Croom – Camp LeJuene, NC In June they hosted a
group of young people from Mt. Joy, PA.
They did painting, window washing and cleaning.
They also helped in installing a water heater, sheetrock work,
replacing rotten wood on the roof and organixing the book room. Jim
& Jean Gillett – Ireland & Nigeria Work continues on the
Aids to Bible Education catalog to be sent to schools in September.
The Gilletts will be making a presentation about Jim’s 13 week trip
to Nigeria in Ft. Worth, Texas. Paul
Meehan – Hungary The parliament of
Hungary has passed a new law defining what constitutes a church.
Brethren Assemblies are not considered churches under this new law
and people are working to change that. Property
and bank accounts could be subject to confiscation by the government.
PRAY! Baltimore
Rescue Mission – Baltimore, MD The entire roof of the
Karis House and a large section of the men’s division roof needed to
replaced because of leaks that were causing damages to the buildings.
They are in need of a late model ¾ ton van to help with food
pickups. They are currently
using a 1989 van with over 200,000 miles on it. Jerry
& Linda Yonnie - Arizona Jerry presided at the
ordination of a young man who is now pastor of a Navajo church in New
Mexico. VBS ministries have been
held at Broken Arrow Bible Camp with 109 campers the first week.
13 made decisions for Christ. Emmaus
Bible College – Iowa A new gym floor has been
installed for the next school year. The
floor is expected to last the next 50 years! The President of the College,
Ken Daughters, spoke in France at the 5th International Brethren
Conference. It was attended by
500 leaders from 90 countries. John
& Lydia Apeh – Equip – Nigeria, Africa There are over 940
students at their schools. Their
Bible College is facing a shortage of teachers and finances at this time.
They are also in need of Christian literature for evangelism,
discipleship and counseling. Tracts,
Bibles, Sunday School materials and Christian books are needed. Ken
& Melli Johnson – Burundi, Africa A motorcycle accident claimed the life of Ken’s right hand man, Gerard. He had worked with the ministry in Burundi for 16 years and the church was overflowing for his funeral service. He will be missed. |
